Bring your own device (BYOD) describes the growing trend of employees bringing personally-owned smartphones, tablets, and other devices to their place of work, and using those devices to access privileged company resources such as email, file servers, and databases. There are more and more users demanding to attach their smartphones and tablets to the corporate network. Some companies welcome this tablet smartphone proliferation, seeing it as a sign of employees wanting to improve their productivity and be able to keep in touch with colleagues, customers and suppliers from any location at any time of day or night.
