SA-Hālō runs on servers hosted in a dedicated UK data centre and is fully managed by our own UK-based helpdesk and comprises email anti-virus, anti-spam, inbound fall-back SMTP server and outbound SMTP smart-hosting functions.
Inbound email is systematically analysed using a continuously updated rule set to determine its authenticity. Infected email and blatant spam is immediately rejected, whereas suspicious messages are placed in a special mailbox for you to review. All other mail is routed to your server as normal.
Should your server go offline - in the event of a failure or ISP line fault - SA-Hālō will store your messages for up to 7 days. These will be delivered to your mail server as soon as it is back on-line.
To avoid common problems with email server IP blacklisting; your outbound email is sent via the SA-Hālō system , which is in turn properly configured to be seen as trusted email relay for your domain name. This process is sometimes referred to as smart-hosting or outbound relay.
